Trump just said he did it for the oil industry and that the US will run their country now. He also said that the US will remove any leader that the US decides isn't good for their people or the US. In the same speech, he also justified sending more troops to US cities.

Venezuela is a big win for the US and a big loss for China and Russia because of the lack of determination by them to prevent this. This is US first step of their new imperialistic, neocolonial way, let´s see, whom they will target next. If its a BRICS-state this will be the end of BRICS. China and Russia are already a huge disappointment, always talk and not decisive actions. US shows us all that they are still No.1 in the world. If this is true then it will break international conventions and law and there will be no excuse that Trump will become a legitimate target. This has never been about drug smuggling but regime change and oil.

Genuine qn, What has Venezuala done to actuall attack the US. At the moment this seems like an illegal attack and declaration of war on a sovereign nation, regardless of what Maduro is like. I also thought it would need to go through congress. Trump seems a war criminal.
